Waivers and authorizations
When you register for a program, you sign one or more documents depending on the activity. Here we explain in plain language what you sign and why. The final legal versions are under review by a lawyer before being published in full.
Liability waiver
Acknowledges that participation is voluntary and that some activities (like soccer) carry inherent physical risks. It releases Caritas, its board, volunteers and partners from liability for injuries, to the extent the law permits — but never covers gross negligence or intentional misconduct on our part.
Rowan's Law acknowledgment (concussion)
For sports programs only. It confirms you read the concussion information required by Ontario's Rowan's Law: that a concussion is serious, that on symptoms the participant stops playing immediately and doesn't return without medical clearance, and that our coaches are obligated to remove them from play if they suspect one.
Image use authorization (optional)
It is optional, by checkbox. You can allow us to take photos or videos, use them on the site and social media, and identify the participant by name — or allow none of those. If you check nothing, no images of the participant are taken for public use. You can withdraw permission anytime by writing to us.
Versions and record
Each time you sign, the current version of the document is recorded for audit. When we update a waiver, the new version applies only to future registrations.
The full legal texts will be published here once approved by an Ontario lawyer, with their version number and date. If you have questions in the meantime, email contacto@caritasfelicescanada.org.
